Fluid Power Seals
Fluid power seals transmit power via fluid pressure. They are supposed to maintain a high sealing performance with minimum friction and wear during their expected service life.
Piston seals or piston Rings are used in hydraulic cylinders for fluid sealing. They are internal to the cylinder head and seal against the cylinder bore, preventing fluid from flowing across the cylinder head. This allows pressure build up on one side of the piston, making the cylinder extend or retract.
The rod seal is the most critical seal on any type of fluid power equipment preventing leakage of fluid from within the cylinder to the outside. Leakage through the rod seal can reduce equipment performance, and also in extreme cases can cause environmental issues.
A wiper seal is an axial seal that creates a seal while allowing a reciprocating shaft to pass through the seal’s inner bore. Wiper seals are often used for fluid containment and to prevent dirt from entering a reciprocating shaft mechanism.
Guide Rings have the task of guiding the rods and pistons of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders and preventing direct metallic contact with the cylinder housing.
Pneumatic Seals
The pneumatic seal is mainly used to contain fluids such as compressed air and gas. To make pneumatic seals, materials with advanced properties are used, which offer the best compromise between friction loads, the type of fluids and the effects of temperature and pressure.
Rotary Schaft Seals
Rotary shaft seals provide sealing and wiping functionality for rotating and swiveling movements under low pressure and high velocity.
O-Ring
The O-ring may be used in static applications or in dynamic applications where there is relative motion between the parts and the O-ring. Dynamic examples include rotating pump shafts and hydraulic cylinder pistons.
Cover Seals
Polyurethane material offers outstanding characteristics relating to robustness and form stability – above all, to resist extrusion. As a result, even complex geometries can be manufactured with injection molding or even with turning technologies if a quick delivery is needed. This characteristic makes it possible to use one-piece seals.
